Oftentimes these bars are also made with coconut, but as no one in my family cares for coconut, we leave it out. The bars themselves are extremely rich and though it seems that one 13×9 pan wouldn’t yield 3 dozen bars, one bite-size bar is often enough to sate the most eager of chocolate lovers.
makes: 2-3 dozen
½ cup margarine or butter
1-1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12 oz.) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (11 oz.) package butterscotch chips
Preheat oven to 350F (325F if you are using a glass dish).
In a 13x9 inch baking pan melt margarine or butter in oven.
Sprinkle crumbs evenly over melted butter, then pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumbs.
Spread both kinds of chips evenly over sweetened condensed milk and press down firmly.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cut into bars.
