1-1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup vegetable shortening 1 cup honey 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 eggs or 6 yolks 1 cup chopped cashew nuts 1 cup chopped peanuts a handful of chopped dates, optional powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a 9x12 inch pan. Re-sift the flour with the baking power and salt; set aside. Cream shortening, honey and vanilla until creamy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add the dry ingredients. Add cashews, peanuts and dates. Spread into pan. Bake 30-24 minutes until brown. Cool. Cut into bars and roll in powdered sugar. |
