Madzoon Cookies

type: refrigerator, formed
makes: 4 dozen

2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
pinch of salt
1/2 cup butter
1-1/4 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt
1 egg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon orange extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
granulated sugar

Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in yogurt, egg, cinnamon, allspice, orange extract, and vanilla.
Add the dry ingredients.
Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375F.
Lightly grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
With lightly floured hands, roll dough into walnut size balls and place on cookie sheets about 2" apart.
Lightly press cookies down.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
Let cool on cookie sheet 1 minute then transfer cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
