Mix all apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and 1/4 cup apple schnapps; set aside. Mix flour, shortening and salt. Beat in eggs and 1/2 cup apple schnapps. Mix well. Divide dough in half. Roll one half out and ease into 10x15" pan. Pour in filling mixture. Roll out other half of pastry; cover apples. Seal edges; cut several slits on top. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Bake for 40 minutes. Drizzle with glaze if desired. |
