You can make up enough mixture and keep it in the fridge so every day you can have yummy fresh cookies.
type: formed
makes: 30
125g butter
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon golden syrup
1-1/4 cups self raising flour
Mix everything together with electric mixer in a bowl.
Roll into little balls and place on a tray about 5 cm apart.
Cook in a moderate oven for 30 minutes.
How easy is that.

I'd rate the cookies about a 3/5 and the instructions about a 2/5.
I had a couple of counts against me to begin with, I guess. I didn't have
golden syrup, but made a special trip to get dark corn syrup, which
another recipe said was a fair substitution. And I didn't have
self-raising flour, so I substituted with a recipe from on-line (1 cup
flour with 1 teaspoon baking soda and a pinch of salt for 1 cup
self-raising flour). I had to translate "moderate oven" which
according to on-line sources, means 350-375. Then I had to
cut WAY back on the cooking time. The cookies were smelling
burnt after 25 minutes and the first batch is hard as rocks. The
second batch, which I baked for about 20 minutes is alright,
though nothing special. It really makes me wonder if there is something missing from the recipe. Is there supposed to be
an egg in there? Maybe with all the substitutions I shouldn't be surprised
that they didn't turn out well, but 30 minutes of bake time for cookies in
"little balls"?
