Cinnamon
Knots
type: refrigerator, formed
makes: 2 dozen
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sunflower or peanut oil
2 eggs, beaten
zest from 1/2 orange
oil for deep-frying
3 tablespoons honey
chopped walnuts & cinnamon to decorate
In a bowl,
sift flour and baking powder.
Stir in oil, eggs, and orange zest.
Mix to a firm dough, add more flour if necessary.
Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.
Roll out dough between two pieces of wax paper until 1/8"
in thickness.
Carefully remove the top sheet of wax paper.
Cut into 5" x 1" strips.
Carefully tie into knots.
Heat oil to 375.
Deep fry knots, a few at a time.
Drain on paper towels.
In a small pan, heat honey.
Pour over knots.
Sprinkle knots with walnuts and cinnamon.
