Orange Thins

makes 10 dozen

1 cup soft butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
grated rind of 1 orange
1 egg
4 cups sifted flour
¾ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon crushed cardamom seeds
½ cup nuts ground fine
¼ cup orange juice

Preheat oven to 425°F. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add orange zest and egg and beat until light. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Roll very thin on a floured board. Cut with floured cutters. Bake 6 to 8 minutes.
